Juventus battles Chelsea for defender signing

Juventus’ pursuit of Feyenoord defender David Hancko is set to face serious competition from Chelsea, as the English club has reportedly entered the race for his signature.

The 27-year-old Slovakian international has been on the radar of the Bianconeri since January, following Gleison Bremer’s long-term injury.

However, Feyenoord opted against letting go of one of their key players mid-season, forcing Juventus to adjust their transfer plans by bringing in Renato Veiga and Lloyd Kelly instead.

Despite missing out on Hancko in the winter transfer window, Juventus has remained in talks with the player’s representatives and is believed to have reached a preliminary agreement on a five year contract.

However, the Italian club has yet to finalize a deal with Feyenoord, leaving room for other clubs to make their move.

According to TalkSport, Chelsea has now emerged as a serious contender, joining Juventus as well as Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure Hancko’s services.

Feyenoord has reportedly increased their asking price to €50 million, a figure that may pose a challenge for Juventus but is well within Chelsea’s financial reach.

The Premier League club’s entry into the negotiations could significantly impact Juventus’ plans, potentially forcing them to reconsider their approach.

Additionally, Hancko’s transfer situation may influence Veiga’s future. The 21-year-old, currently on loan at Juventus, has impressed the club’s management, but no purchase option was included in his deal.

If Chelsea successfully signs Hancko, they could open negotiations with Juventus regarding Veiga’s potential transfer.

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is reportedly keen on bringing Hancko to Turin, viewing him as a crucial addition to the club’s defensive setup.

However, with Chelsea now in the mix and other clubs monitoring the situation, Juventus will have to act swiftly to secure their target before the summer transfer window closes.
