Sport Italia: Juventus prepares an offer for Ronald Araujo

Juventus is actively pursuing defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window, with Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo emerging as a prime target.

The 24-year-old Uruguayan center-back has reportedly expressed willingness to join the Bianconeri, seeking increased playing time after a period of limited action due to injury.

Araújo, who recently returned to the pitch in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey match against Barbastro, has faced challenges in securing a regular starting position amid stiff competition within the squad.

His current contract with Barcelona extends until June 2026, with an annual salary of approximately €6 million.

According to Sport Italia (via Matthijs Pog on X) Juventus is proposing a loan arrangement, offering to cover half of Araújo’s salary, equating to around €3 million per year.

This deal presents mutual benefits: Barcelona could alleviate part of their wage expenses, while Araújo would gain the opportunity for consistent playing time in Serie A.

However, Barcelona has yet to publicly disclose their stance on this potential transfer.

The urgency for Juventus to bolster their defense is underscored by recent injuries to key players such as Bremer and Cabal, coupled with the potential departure of Danilo to Napoli.

In addition to Araújo, Juventus has shown interest in other defenders, including David Hancko. However, the possibility of securing Araújo on a loan deal could expedite his acquisition compared to other targets.

Araújo’s versatility and defensive prowess make him an attractive option for Juventus as they aim to reinforce their backline for the remainder of the season.

The coming days will be crucial in determining whether Barcelona consents to the loan move, which could significantly impact both clubs’ strategies moving forward.
