One Juventus player set to miss out on Champions League selection

Juventus made four new signings in the January transfer window, according to IlBianconero.

The club brought in striker Kolo Muani along with three defenders initially planning for two but ultimately adding a third following Danilo’s departure and Kalulu’s injury in the final days of the window.

These additions are not just about strengthening the squad on the field but also have an impact on Juventus’ UEFA list for the second phase of the Champions League. The club must submit its squad list by midnight on February 6.

Juventus is set to face PSV in the Champions League playoffs, with the first leg scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, and the return match on Wednesday, February 19.

However, not all players in the squad will be eligible to play, as UEFA regulations impose limitations on squad selections.

Each team can register a maximum of three new players compared to the previous list, regardless of how many players are removed.

This means Juventus will have to choose only three from Renato Veiga, Alberto Costa, Kolo Muani, and Kelly.

One of the four new signings will be left out of the UEFA list and will not participate in the Champions League. All indications suggest that Alberto Costa will be the one to miss out.

Despite being the first of the new arrivals at Continassa, he has yet to make his debut.

Meanwhile, Kolo Muani has already established himself as the starting striker, Renato Veiga made his Serie A debut just days after signing and can play multiple roles, and Kelly, the latest signing, appears to be more ready than Costa.

These factors will likely lead coach Thiago Motta to reluctantly exclude the 2003-born full-back from the squad.
