Juventus faces challenges in securing center-back reinforcement this January

Juventus is actively seeking defensive reinforcements following significant setbacks in their backline.

The team has been hit hard by serious injuries to key defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, both sidelined for the remainder of the season due to ACL injuries.

Compounding these challenges is the anticipated departure of club captain Danilo. Reports indicate that Juventus has informed Danilo of their decision to place him on the transfer market, with Napoli emerging as a potential destination.

The Uruguayan defender has reportedly expressed willingness to join the Bianconeri. However, the finalization of this move hinges on Barcelona’s approval, as they deliberate on whether to sanction a loan deal that could benefit both clubs.

Another player on Juventus’s radar is David Hancko of Feyenoord. Despite the club’s interest, Feyenoord has declared Hancko non-transferable during this window, potentially delaying any negotiations until the summer.

Additionally, the club is monitoring Antonio Silva but the club is waiting to hear Benfica stance on potential departure of Portuguese centre-back this January.

The urgency to secure defensive signings is underscored by Juventus’s current position in Serie A. As of January 8, 2025, the team is striving to maintain its standing among the league’s top contenders.

The upcoming derby against Torino on January 11 is pivotal, with the squad aiming to fortify its defense to enhance prospects for a favorable outcome.

Juventus’s management, led by sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, is under pressure to navigate these challenges effectively.
