Dario Canovi, a veteran football agent and father of Alessandro Canovi—Thiago Motta’s current representative—has publicly criticized the treatment of the former Juventus coach.
In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com, Canovi expressed his dismay, stating: “I won’t comment on his sacking, but I would like to talk about something else instead.
“The treatment Thiago received—and I’m not referring to Juventus—was shameful. It’s absolutely not true that he didn’t get along with the players. You can attack the coach, but not the man.”
Canovi emphasized that Juventus remains at the top of the standings despite facing significant challenges this season, particularly injuries to key players.
He pointed out that the team has been without four defenders and that important players like Nico González and Teun Koopmeiners suffered early injuries, with Koopmeiners missing the entire summer preparation.
He further questioned the disproportionate criticism directed at Motta compared to other struggling teams: “Other teams are struggling, but I don’t see the same level of hostility that Thiago Motta is facing.”
Despite his departure from Juventus, Motta remains a respected figure in European football circles, and it’s anticipated that he may receive new coaching opportunities in the near future.
