In a final push to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes, Juventus is reportedly looking at Lois Openda as a primary alternative to Randal Kolo Muani.

The club is expected to make a final decision today, August 31st, as negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Kolo Muani reach a critical stage.

Juventus’s latest offer for Kolo Muani is a loan deal worth €10 million, with a purchase option of €45–50 million that would become an obligation under certain conditions.

Should PSG reject this proposal, Juventus will immediately turn their attention to Openda, who could be available from RB Leipzig.

Born in Belgium in 2000 to a Congolese father and Moroccan mother, Openda began his youth career at Standard Liège before moving to Club Brugge, where he made his professional debut in 2018. After a two-year loan spell at Vitesse in the Netherlands, he joined Lens in 2022.

Openda had a standout season with Lens, scoring 21 goals in Ligue 1. This impressive performance earned him a €40 million transfer to RB Leipzig, making him the German club’s most expensive player at the time, a record later surpassed by Xavi Simons.

In his first season with Leipzig, Openda continued his prolific form, scoring 28 goals and providing 7 assists across all competitions. However, his scoring output dropped to 13 goals the following season, a factor in Leipzig’s failure to qualify for European competition.

Despite this dip in form, he has yet to score in the new season, but this has not deterred potential suitors, including Juventus.

If he joins Juventus, Openda would compete for the central striker position in Igor Tudor’s 3-4-2-1 formation, a role currently filled by new signing Jonathan David.

Openda’s clinical finishing would add another potent attacking option to the squad, especially if Dušan Vlahović remains at the club.

Vlahović is reportedly determined to see out the final year of his contract before leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2026. This would create a crowded forward line that Tudor would need to manage carefully to maintain squad balance.

Financially, a move for Openda would be less demanding for Juventus. RB Leipzig is reportedly willing to accept a lower transfer fee compared to what PSG is asking for Kolo Muani.

Additionally, Openda’s salary expectations are significantly lower. While Kolo Muani earns around €8 million per season, Openda would reportedly be content with half of that, a significant advantage for Juventus in the current economic climate.
