Atalanta’s defensive woes continue as Stefan Posch is set to miss approximately five weeks due to injury, further complicating the team’s preparations for their upcoming Serie A clash against Juventus.
The Austrian defender sustained a tendon injury in the hamstring of his left leg during Thursday’s training session, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, this setback adds to Atalanta’s ongoing injury crisis, with key players such as Isak Hien, Odilon Kossounou, and Giorgio Scalvini already sidelined.
Striker Gianluca Scamacca is also out, while Marco Carnesecchi, Sead Kolasinac, Ademola Lookman, and Daniel Maldini have all battled injuries earlier in the season.
Posch, who joined Atalanta from Bologna in the January transfer window, will now miss several crucial matches. His expected absence of up to 40 days rules him out of the showdown against Juventus this weekend and other key fixtures in the coming weeks.
Atalanta faces a challenging period in Serie A, with fixtures against league leaders Inter Milan on March 16, followed by Fiorentina (March 30), Lazio (April 6), Bologna (April 13), and AC Milan (April 20).
The loss of Posch will put extra strain on coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s defensive options during this decisive stretch.
With injuries piling up, Atalanta will need to find solutions quickly to maintain their push for a strong finish in the league. The upcoming test against Juventus will be a key indicator of their resilience despite the growing list of unavailable players.
