Motta earns fewer points than Allegri but moves Juventus closer to the top

One of the most debated topics of Juventus’ season has been the ongoing comparison between the 2024/25 campaign under Thiago Motta and the previous season led by Massimiliano Allegri.

Since the beginning of the season, the performance of Motta has been scrutinized in contrast to his predecessor, making the comparison a central theme in the club’s journey.

According to Ilbianconero, Motta has been under constant evaluation, particularly in light of Allegri’s past results. In the early part of the season, the statistics seemed to favor Allegri, but Juventus’ recent streak of victories in Serie A has significantly altered the scenario. Motta has overseen a strong resurgence, putting Juventus back in contention.

With four consecutive wins against Empoli, Como, Inter, and Cagliari, Juventus has secured fourth place in the league and halved their points deficit from the top of the table. In just a month, they have reduced the gap from 16 points to 8, gaining an average of two points per matchday on the league leaders.

Analyzing the standings after 26 matchdays, Allegri’s Juventus in the 2023/24 season had accumulated 57 points, eight more than Motta’s current tally of 49 points. Despite the lower points total, Motta’s team has shown signs of improvement and remains in the fight for the top spots.

While Motta has fewer points than Allegri at this stage, his team is in a better position relative to the league leaders. Juventus currently trails Inter by 8 points, a significant improvement from just four matchdays ago when the deficit stood at 16.

In contrast, Allegri’s team last season, despite having more points, was already 12 points behind Inter after 26 games. Ultimately, Juventus’ current form suggests that Motta’s side has the potential to remain in the title race longer than Allegri’s did.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on whether Motta can maintain this momentum and challenge for the Serie A title.
