Thiago Motta takes blame after Empoli loss and calls for improvement

Juventus crashed out of Coppa Italia the in a disappointing way at the hands of Empoli. Juventus were heavy favourites and still couldn’t get the job done at home in Turin.

Thiago Motta spoke to the press after the loss despite not doing so before the clash. In his words he took full responsibility for the loss in today’s game. “SuperCoppa, UCL and Coppa Italia eliminations? I’m responsible!”

He blamed this because he let the players be too relaxed before today’s game. “I failed to make the players understand the importance of wearing the jersey of Juventus. We deserved to be eliminated.” Thiago Motta paired this by saying “I’m ashamed from what I saw today, especially the attitude in the first half.”

However, he didn’t let the players of easy in today’s game. He gave them no excuses but he did it in a civilised manner as to not degrade anyone. We lost to an Empoli side which played with their bench today. I hope it’s a wake up call for us.”

Motta is calling for a wake up call because he doesn’t think it’s a quality issue but instead an attitude issue. “We have many quality players but In Football, Only quality is not enough!”

The key thing to decide Thiago Motta’s future is if he can figure out this attitude issue. This is because is if performances don’t pick up he will likely be the first name on the chopping block. “I feel ashamed because we’ve hit the rock bottom.” from Thiago Motta backs this up in the fact that Juventus must improve.
