Napoli president De Laurentiis refuses to spend €14 million to sign the Juventus midfielder
Napoli’s interest in Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti is genuine, but president Aurelio De Laurentiis is standing firm on the financial terms.
Despite being impressed by the 21-year-old’s potential, De Laurentiis is unwilling to pay the €14 million Juventus is demanding.
Miretti, a product of Juventus’ youth academy, spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Genoa, where he showed promise under manager Patrick Vieira.
However, despite his progress, Juventus boss Igor Tudor doesn’t see Miretti fitting into his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, which has prompted the club to consider parting ways with the young midfielder.
Napoli have emerged as the leading suitor for Miretti, with the club’s sporting director Giovanni Manna identifying him as a key target to strengthen the midfield.
Head coach Antonio Conte is reportedly seeking a sixth midfielder to complete his squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
De Laurentiis has not approved the move due to Juventus’ valuation. He believes the asking price is excessive and is only prepared to negotiate at a lower cost.
The report adds that De Laurentiis might instead turn to the Premier League for cheaper options, just as he did last season when he secured Philip Billing from Bournemouth on loan.
Whether Juventus will be willing to lower their price remains unclear. The Turin club may hold out for better offers or hope for a bidding war if more interest in Miretti arises.
With the summer transfer window heating up, all eyes will be on whether Napoli returns with an improved offer or shifts focus to alternatives.
Juventus, meanwhile, may have to decide if they will stick to their valuation or compromise to finalize a deal.
