After picking up a yellow card in the 72nd minute against Genoa, Alvaro Morata was subbed by Massimiliano Allegri. It resulted in the two having an argument on the sideline, with Morata visibly frustrated. Allegri explains his decision to take the Spanish striker off and looks at other key points from Sunday’s match in an interview with DAZN.

Allegri says he hadn’t decided to sub Morata, but preffered to take him off after his yellow card. “I’m sorry because he had a good game in terms of technique. He didn’t score but it was nice to see him and the team play.”

Juventus played in a 4-2-3-1 formation for the second time in a row. Allegri seems happy about his pairing of Bentancur and Locatelli. “Rodrigo is more than quantity and Manuel is about quality. Bentancur is good in short range and improving in long range. The midfielders must know how to do this in order to be able to set off the strikers.”

Paulo Dybala put an end to all doubts with his goal in the 82nd minute. Allegri says Dybala scored many goals like this. “Those are his characteristics.” The Italian coach also looks at the buildup play. “The three behind Morata have freedom to move. Maybe Kulusevski is a bit more blocked. Bernardeschi is growing a lot.”

Difficult games

Allegri states that he ‘enjoyed’ himself tonight. “We have to continue like this, the results count. We need to improve in concretization.” Juventus are fifth in Serie A, tied on points with Fiorentina. “The four in front are good and deserve the positions they have. Maybe at the end of the year something could change.” The next Serie A matches for the Bianconeri will be against Venezia and Bologna, which Allegri labels as ‘difficult’.
