Turin could witness a historic event as it prepares to potentially host the final stages of the fourth edition of the UEFA Nations League, according to La Stampa (via Calcio Finanza).
The matches would take place from June 4 to June 8, with the semifinals and the final at the Allianz Stadium, and the third-place match at the Grande Torino Stadium.
For Turin to host the Nations League Finals, two conditions must be met:
1. UEFA’s Decision: On Monday, the UEFA Executive Committee will decide which quarterfinal match will determine the host of the Final Four. If Italy vs. Germany is chosen, then Italy must win this two-legged tie to host the finals in Turin.
2. Italy’s Victory: The quarterfinal, with the first leg in Milan on March 20 and the return leg in Dortmund on March 23, must result in Italy’s advancement to ensure that Turin becomes the host city.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) is planning for a unique setup where both semifinals would be held at the Allianz Stadium.
The final would also take place there, while the match for third place is scheduled at the Grande Torino Stadium, although this venue is currently committed to a Vasco Rossi concert on May 31, suggesting a need for adjustments.
Should Italy qualify and host, it would be a first for the city, as previous Final Four events have featured matches split between two cities within 100 km of each other.
This time, Turin aims to host all four matches predominantly at the Allianz Stadium, marking an unprecedented event for the city.
The potential for hosting the Nations League Finals in Turin adds excitement to the local football scene.
Should Italy defeat Germany in the upcoming quarterfinals, the city will gear up for a week-long celebration of football, bringing European football’s elite to the Juventus home ground.
