Andrea Cambiaso set to miss Coppa Italia tie

Andrea Cambiaso picked up an injury against Bologna in the 13th minute that saw him bought off, as Juventus went on to play a disappointing 2-2 draw. He picked the injury up on the 7th of December and it looked to be short term.

However, 12 days he is still not available, as Juventus are set to play Cagliari in the Coppa Italia tomorrow. This is a problem because Juventus will be forced to only pick four defenders in the tie. This could mean that if an injury occurred a player from somewhere else will have to be used.

But Thiago Motta could decide to pick some Juventus next gen players for the game to help give them some experience. Even if they come in and give Juventus depth, Motta would still prefer to have Cambiaso not only because he’s an key player.

This tie could also be help Cambiaso find his feet after his injury. You may say that his injury is only small, and he won’t need too. You should look at Dusan Vlahovics injury for an example, he returned against Bologna when Cambiaso injured himself.

In that game he was poor due to rust from not playing in just under three weeks. Even against Manchester City in the Champions League he didn’t look his best but did manage to get on the scoresheet. Venezia was the first game where he looked like himself, not just from a goalscoring perspective but also buildup.

This is why a game like this could be very good for Cambiaso to help find himself. It’s another blow because Douglas Luiz and Rouhi will both also miss the game. Douglas Luiz is a much bigger blow because he played a 24 minute cameo against Venezia.
