Arsenal have reportedly turned their attention to Juventus’ rising star Kenan Yildiz after a deal for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams stalled due to his high wage demands.
According to journalist Mark Brus from Caught Offside, Arsenal are now actively exploring a deal for the 20-year-old Turkish international, who enjoyed a breakthrough season with 35 appearances (28 starts) in Serie A for the Bianconeri.
Williams had emerged as a top wide option for the Gunners following his impressive performances for both club and country.
However, his wage demands reportedly exceeding £200,000 per week are said to have forced Arsenal to reconsider their options, especially for a player who may not be a guaranteed starter.
That has opened the door for Yildiz, a versatile and technically skilled attacker capable of playing centrally or on the wings.
The youngster is currently valued at €45 million on Transfermarkt and is seen as a strong fit for Mikel Arteta’s dynamic attacking system.
Arsenal’s interest in Yildiz aligns with the club’s new transfer strategy under Andrea Berta, their recently appointed sporting director.
Berta is believed to be targeting high-upside talents who can grow under Arteta without placing financial strain on the club’s wage structure.
Still, the Gunners may face a tough challenge in securing Yildiz. Juventus are in negotiations to extend his contract, aiming to reward his progress and deter growing interest from the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Arsenal had also explored the possibility of signing Leroy Sané, who netted 11 goals last season.
But any hopes of luring the former Manchester City winger back to England were dashed after he completed a surprising move to Galatasaray.
In addition to strengthening their attack, Arsenal are eyeing defensive reinforcements. Reports suggest the North London club are preparing a £40 million bid for Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace and England centre-back, after missing out on young Juventus defender Dean Huijsen.
With multiple areas in need of reinforcements, Arsenal look set for a busy summer. The club’s plans may ultimately depend on managing wage limits and Andrea Berta’s ability to secure smart, strategic deals.
