On a night of celebration for Juventus, as they finally defeated Inter at the Allianz Stadium after more than two years and secured a place in the Champions League zone, there was also room for some less positive news.
According to Ilbianconero, the situation of Dusan Vlahovic stands out. The Serbian striker remained on the bench for the entire ninety minutes against the Nerazzurri, a clear indication of his difficult moment.
It is now evident that DV9 has lost his starting spot in Thiago Motta’s lineup, displaced by an outstanding Randal Kolo Muani. The French forward, with five goals and one assist in his first five matches in Italy, has completely overturned the hierarchy within a month.
Things could not have started worse for Vlahovic in 2025. The former Fiorentina striker has yet to start a league match in the new year. After missing games against Torino and Atalanta due to muscle fatigue, the 24-year-old has now spent five consecutive Serie A matches on the bench, only managing brief appearances: 7 minutes against Milan, 8 against Napoli, and 25 against Empoli, where he scored a goal to help Juventus seal the victory.
However, he was then left on the bench for two full games against Como and Inter, meaning he has spent 180 minutes watching his teammates from the sidelines.
His playing time in the Champions League has been slightly better, but only because Juventus could not field Kolo Muani until the beginning of February. In other words, Vlahovic has officially lost his status as an untouchable starter in the Bianconeri squad.
Since Kolo Muani officially joined Juventus, Vlahovic’s role in Thiago Motta’s tactical setup has progressively diminished. Over the last five Serie A matches, the Serbian striker has played just 40 minutes in total, always starting from the bench.
His last appearance in the starting XI dates back to January 29 against Benfica, when Kolo Muani was still unavailable for international matches.
Vlahovic’s Recent Stats:
- 7 squad selections
- 5 appearances
- 1 start
- 4 substitute appearances
- 2 matches as an unused substitute
- 1 goal
- 0 assists
- 143 minutes played
Vlahovic’s future at Juventus now seems uncertain, as Kolo Muani continues to dominate the attack and solidify his place in the starting lineup.
