Bundesliga club reach verbal agreement with Juventus star
Werder Bremen have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Juventus winger Samuel Mbangula, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The 21-year-old Belgian forward has already agreed to a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club. However, Werder Bremen are still negotiating with Juventus over the transfer fee.
The German side’s initial offer of €8 million was rejected by Juventus, who are seeking between €10 million and €12 million for the player.
Brentford and Strasbourg have also expressed interest in Mbangula, but Bremen appear to be leading the race to sign him.
Last season, Mbangula featured in 32 matches for Juventus, scoring four goals and providing five assists. Although included in Juventus’ squad for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, he did not play in the tournament.
Werder Bremen’s summer transfer activity has been relatively quiet so far. The club secured Maximilian Wöber on loan from Leeds United, and Mbangula’s potential arrival would mark their second biggest signing in recent history.
Only Davy Klaassen’s €13.5 million transfer from Everton in 2018 surpasses it. The deal would also place Mbangula ahead of Marko Marin, who joined Bremen in 2009 for €8.2 million.
If completed, this signing signals Werder Bremen’s strong backing of head coach Horst Steffen as they prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga season.
