Juventus remains steadfast in decision on Danilo future

Juventus defender Danilo returned to the Continassa training center today, resuming individual workouts following a two-day rest period granted after the team’s Supercoppa Italiana match.

Despite his return to training, the club remains steadfast in its decision to place the Brazilian on the transfer market, a resolution made just before the squad’s departure for Saudi Arabia.

The relationship between Danilo and Juventus has deteriorated, leading both parties to seek an amicable separation.

Danilo is eager to secure a new club promptly to continue his career, with Napoli expressing significant interest in acquiring his services.

However, Napoli prefers not to pay a transfer fee, hoping that Juventus will release the player, allowing him to join them without financial compensation.

This situation has implications for Juventus’ leadership structure. Danilo has served as the team’s captain since Leonardo Bonucci’s departure who even retired from football.

Under coach Thiago Motta, the captain’s armband has rotated among several players, including Gleison Bremer, Andrea Cambiaso, and Manuel Locatelli.

With Danilo’s expected departure, Locatelli is poised to assume the captaincy on a more permanent basis.

Motta has expressed a desire to reward Locatelli for his consistent commitment in both matches and training sessions, recognizing him as a key leader within the squad.

The vice-captaincy remains undecided, especially pertinent with Locatelli’s upcoming suspension for the derby against Torino.

Andrea Cambiaso, previously considered for the role, has seen reduced playing time following an ankle injury. Other potential candidates include Teun Koopmeiners and Michele Di Gregorio.

Establishing a stable leadership hierarchy is crucial for Juventus as they navigate this transitional period, aiming to reinforce team cohesion and performance.
