Juventus took Cagliari on in the 26th Match-week of the Seria A season. Juventus were motivated after crashing out of the Champions League midweek at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.
Juventus started the game in full control which lead to the single goal of the match being scored by Dusan Vlahovic in the 12th minute. This was due to a Cagliari mistake trying to play out of the Juventus press.
Juventus kept the press on for the rest of the first half, but couldn’t find another goal. Despite multiple chances in which Juventus could have scored a second to put the game in rest.
In the second half a shift happened and Juventus looked like an average side. Cagliari were allowed in the game but they never had a great chance to score.
Player Ratings:
Michele Di Gregorio – 7: In the first half Cagliari didn’t have any chances to worry him. In the second half Di Gregorio he didn’t step a foot wrong and got his clean sheet in a narrow win.
Andrea Cambiaso – 5: Didn’t look 100 percent out there but the defence was too broken for him to not play. He didn’t command the ball like he did at the start of the season and let Weah take control on the right.
Llyod Kelly – 6: Llyod Kelly had his best game in the black and white so far when he actually played in position. His playmaking still isn’t great but he uses Di Gregorio to ease the weight of him.
Federico Gatti – 6: Gatti played in more advanced roles, due to Cagliari dropping in so much. But he kept his calm for most the time, this was key for defensive stability to stop counter attacks.
Timothy Weah – 7: Once again Weah was brilliant down the flank, he took a higher role as Cambiaso preferred to stay back. He’s good in build up and he has the pace and work rate to come back.
Manuel Locatelli – 7.5: Locatelli dictated play for majority of the time, bridging the defence and offence with perfection. He kept everyone in time allowing as an easy option out.
Teun Koopmeiners – 3: Koopmeiners didn’t have an affect on the game at all once again but Mr Motta repeatedly starts him. Doing the same thing and expecting different results, the definition of insanity.
Kenan Yildiz – 6.5: Kenan Yildiz looked good today when he could start the game on the pitch. He connected well with Mckennie, he also came inside well when the build-up was on the right.
Weston Mckennie – 5.5: This game was very average from Mckennie, he has been in good form but looks tired. He wasn’t pressing in the same way against Empoli he should be rested.
Francisco Conceicao – 4: Conciecao has been poor for a while and this game bubbled over his poor performances. He got angry when things wouldn’t work and this led to him making more mistakes.
Dusan Vlahovic – 6.5: Vlahovics goal was good but everything else was average. He tried to play in a different style to impress Motta but it didn’t work. He probably should have scored another goal but Caprile was very impressive.
