Juventus are reportedly exploring a January move for Chelsea’s £39m defender Axel Disasi. However, the Italian giants may face significant challenges in convincing the French international to leave Stamford Bridge during the winter transfer window.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has emphasized the importance of maintaining depth in his defensive lineup, particularly with Wesley Fofana sidelined by injury until the new year.
Maresca confirmed Fofana’s timeline for recovery during his pre-match press conference on Friday, further solidifying Disasi’s role as a key option for Chelsea.
Reports suggest Juventus have already inquired about Disasi as they look to bolster their backline. The Frenchman, who joined Chelsea from AS Monaco for £38.8m in 2023, is seen as a valuable asset for the Blues and a potential target for clubs seeking defensive reinforcements.
Despite the interest, BBC Sport reports that Disasi is content with his current situation at Chelsea and has no plans to leave the club next month.
Juventus are not the only team eyeing the 26-year-old defender. West Ham United are also reportedly interested, a move that aligns with the Hammers’ need to strengthen their squad after a challenging Premier League season under Julen Lopetegui.
Disasi, a strong and experienced player, has made just three Premier League appearances this season but could see increased playing time in the coming weeks with Fofana and Benoit Badiashile both recovering from injuries.
Though Disasi currently ranks behind Fofana and Levi Colwill in Chelsea’s defensive pecking order, his role at Stamford Bridge could prove pivotal. For now, with Chelsea’s injury concerns, the French defender is expected to remain a crucial part of the squad heading into the new year.
At some point, Disasi may evaluate his long-term future at Chelsea, but for now, the likelihood of a January move to Juventus or any other club appears slim.
