Como 1-2 Juventus: Match report and player ratings

Juventus took on Como away at to complete the series in the second half of the season. Juventus got the win in both games but the one from the start of the season was much better. This game Juventus could have easily lost.

Como had Juventus defence under heavy pressure at time with them winning the possession battle 52-48 percent. Even though this has been a staple of Thiago Motta play, this shows how easily Juventus could have won this game.

But this wasn’t the case not thanks to great coaching from Thiago Motta, our great build-up from Teun Koopmeiners, but from great goalscoring ability from Randal Kolo Muani. He scored both goals bagging a brace for his second game in a row.

The defence looked lacklustre, taking Savona off at halftime was the right call, but then why did he leave Koop on? Llyod Kelly wasn’t good at all and was moving with absolutely zero courage and passion for the club he’s playing for.

Match Ratings

Michele Di Gregorio – 7: Made some great saves in the first half, the goal was poor set piece defending. The second half he took care of business and was key in this game.

Nico Savona – 4.5: He was poor this game as he’s on a bit of a bad run, but he should be proud of the effort he put in for sure more than others on the pitch. But effort doesn’t win games, and he was still bad.

Llyod Kelly – 3: He didn’t show any effort at all today, took him a whole of five minutes on debut to get megged. He has the attitude of a Sunday League player walking around when Como were in deadly positions.

Federico Gatti and Renato Veiga – 5.5: They didn’t create any defensive errors you expect your fullbacks to be at the back post. But their ball playing ability was terrible today and could have cost us a goal.

Timothy Weah – 6: He didn’t do anything extraordinary today, but he is playing out of position so I can’t be too mad at that. But people can argue he was quiet, but I want fullbacks that get the job done quietly 90% of the time. The 10% are your players like Cambiaso, Theo Hernandez and Federico Di Marco.

Manuel Locatelli – 5:  I really felt that he could have done more to stop Nico Paz as he could run amuck a little bit. His ball playing ability wasn’t good and this was bad especially when Gatti and Veiga were doing poor.

Teun Koopmeiners -0.5: Koopmeiners only gets the .5 because I saw he complete around three passes in the whole 60 minutes he played. Thats, a pass every twenty minutes, other than that he did cardio and then cost us a goal.

Weston Mckennie – 6.5: Today Wes worked a little too hard, what I mean is he looked pissed off all game. This caused him to make errors that he didn’t need to make, but he was still a crucial player in today’s game and should start more often in midfield.

Randal Kolo Muani – 8:  He could have done a bit more to help the build-up play today but that won’t be talked about myself included because of his two goals, the first was a beautiful finish inside the box even with the angle. His second goal was a pen which he slotted well, and you have to take the chances you get.

Mr Motta – 0: Thiago Motta made two good changes, and they were both too late. Left Koop on until the 60th and Nico until the 75th. He should have left Yildiz on but it’s a power play for him to bring him off at this point.
