Atalanta lead race to sign Juventus star
Atalanta are emerging as the front-runners to sign Juventus winger Filip Kostic, who is expected to leave Turin once again this summer.
The 32-year-old Serbian joined Juventus from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and spent two seasons under Massimiliano Allegri, experiencing mixed fortunes. However, he was left out of new coach Thiago Motta’s plans following his arrival in 2024.
Kostic was subsequently loaned out to Fenerbahce, where he enjoyed a strong campaign. Despite his performances, the Turkish club declined the option to make the deal permanent, sending Kostic back to Juventus at the end of the season.
Kostic featured briefly in the FIFA Club World Cup under Igor Tudor, but sources close to Juventus confirm his future lies away from Turin. With several clubs showing interest, Atalanta are reported to be leading the chase.
The Bergamo-based club have made the most significant strides so far in trying to sign the experienced winger, making him a key target ahead of the 2025/26 season.
While Atalanta lead the race, they are not alone. AS Roma have expressed interest in the Serbian international, while his former club Eintracht Frankfurt are considering bringing him back.
Other Bundesliga interest comes from Union Berlin, and in England, Crystal Palace could offer him a Premier League return under former Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner though no official move has been made.
In Turkey, both Besiktas and Galatasaray remain interested, and clubs from the Arabian Gulf, such as Al Ain and Al Ittihad, are also monitoring the situation.
Despite offers from abroad, Kostic is reportedly focused on staying in Europe, and more specifically in Serie A, making Atalanta his most likely destination.
The move would allow him to remain in a top-five league, maintain a high competitive level, and potentially play a key role under Gian Piero Gasperini.
With the summer window still open, Juventus and Atalanta are expected to intensify talks in the coming days. Unless another club makes a serious late push, Kostic could be donning the black and blue of Atalanta before the season kicks off.
