Juventus 1-2 Milan: Match report from a disappointing night in Riyadh

Juventus took on AC Milan in the semi-final of the Supercoppa Italia and lost in an embarrassing affair, making clear and obvious the problems from this season. This team switches off the second we go a goal up and it ruins us again again and again.

The club took let chances go a beg after the goal with no real urgency because we were a goal up. We were being pressed heavily by Milan before the goal and no one on the pitch or on the technical area made a change at all.

This win was deserved for Milan, and we handed it to them in a package with a nice bow on top to make it all so much better. They easily could have had three or four goals; it’s not coaching fault for once the players need to take action.

Player Ratings

Michele Di Gregorio – 4: The pen was unlucky, his positioning for the second goal was terrible looked like he went for a walk. He also is so stubborn on playing the ball out instead of just kicking it long and causing player to make errors.

Weston Mckennie – 5.5: Quite very quiet to the point where he cost us. I saw him on TV once after Cambiaso came off and that was the rest of the team’s fault. Don’t want the gimmick of him playing at left back anymore unless it needed, he is a midfielder.

Pierre Kalulu – 4.5: Seriously did he play? Gatti had to do everything in defence and was better, but he got the O.G so it’s his fault. He has putting together a seriously bad run of form.

Federico Gatti – 6: Gatti was one of our better players today, but that won’t be talked about because of the own goal. But he didn’t do anything wrong on that and I blame Di Gregorios positioning.

Nico Savona – 6.5: Nico Savona was very good on that right side coming up against Jiminez and Hernadez of the left. He started slow with some nerves because that was one of the biggest games he’s played but he cleared them and played well.

Manuel Locatelli – 4.5: Another quite player who didn’t play a bad game but was very quiet. He gave away the pen that was a little stupid, but I understand why he tried to make the challenge though. He could have done more in moving the ball when we were being pressed heavily.

Khephren Thuram – 5.5: He had a poor quite game, but he still did okay, Koop was better at moving the ball, but he still played a role, but I don’t think he was good enough.

Teun Koopmeiners – 6.5: One of his better games moving the ball through. Shame it won’t be talked about after the result of the game considering what people have said around him. Clearly, he needs to sit a little deeper in a 10.5 like how Zirkzee played in a 9.5 for Bologna.

Kenan Yildiz – 7.5: Yildiz was our best player today with his goal and the chances he created. He could have had two assists if our attack could convert a little better. He had the Milan defence in trouble until we scored and got complacent.

Samuel Mbangula – 7: Mbangula gave us a spark of creativity today and I glad he did get to play from the start. He looked very explosive and inventive on the ball but struggled to create real chances.

Dusan Vlahovic – 4.5: The ideas Vlahovic was creating was correct, but he just lacked a bit of a clinical edge once again. It’s getting harder and harder to defend keeping him but when he’s on he can score at the level of some of the best in the world. He’s just not on enough.
