Douglas Luiz future clarified by transfer expert
Transfer expert and Sport Mediaset journalist, Orazio Accomando speaking from Mediaset studios, provided an extensive update on the future of Douglas Luiz.
Accomando confirmed that Nottingham Forest remains strongly interested in acquiring the Brazilian midfielder, who is keen to return to the Premier League.
That move would align with the player’s wish to rejoin English football while Juventus await a fair offer that matches the valuation they’ve placed on him.
There is also concrete interest from Fenerbahçe, managed by José Mourinho. The Turkish club considers Luiz a fallback option should their move for Hakan Çalhanoğlu fail.
This alternative pathway remains on the table and could include a swap involving Sofyan Amrabat, valued at around €15 million.

Juventus signed Douglas Luiz for approximately €50 million from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024, with part of the fee offset by player exchanges such as Samuel Iling‑Junior and Enzo Barrenechea.
However, the 27-year-old’s stint in Turin has been underwhelming. Across the 2024–25 season, he made just a handful of starts—often limited to substitute appearances—and played around 795 minutes in Serie A, failing to register a goal or assist.
He has faced criticism for lacking intensity off the ball and showing little influence in central midfield. Consequently, Juventus are now valuing him at roughly €40 million.
Nottingham Forest, under sporting director Edu Gaspar, had pursued Luiz in January but were turned down. Reports suggest they remained persistent, and as of March 2025, scouting activity intensified.

Forest are preparing for potential European competition and view Luiz as a technical playmaker who can complement their wide forwards and expedite transitions—though concerns linger over his defensive work rate.
Juventus are reportedly open to the idea of loan-to-buy structure, possibly with an obligation to purchase if certain conditions are met; Forest are examining the feasibility given financial constraints and wage demands exceeding £100,000 per week.
Fenerbahçe’s proposal is reportedly structured around a loan deal with obligation to buy. Mourinho, who admires Luiz, remains enthusiastic, though the player’s representation appears to lean toward a return to England.
Luiz himself has apologized to Juventus staff following a late arrival to pre‑season training, acknowledging a lapse in professionalism.
Meanwhile, Juventus are also looking to offload other top earners. Dušan Vlahović has been made available after attracting interest from AC Milan, and midfielder Arthur Melo may also depart.
These sales are part of a broader strategy to free up the wage bill and reinvest in Tudor’s preferred targets.
With the transfer window in full swing and UEFA licensing consequences looming, Juventus are under pressure to conclude deals swiftly.
