Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus’ star striker, recently experienced a turbulent period marked by tensions with fans and uncertainties surrounding his contract renewal.
Following Juventus’ 2-2 draw against Venezia on December 14, 2024, Vlahovic engaged in a heated exchange with a section of the Curva Sud supporters who directed insults toward him.
His reaction intensified the situation, leading to widespread criticism. In response, Vlahovic took to social media to address the incident, stating:
“I understand the frustration for the latest results, and you have all the rights to express it,” wrote on Instagram..
“I’ve always respected you by giving my all for the shirt, and I thank you for the support you show us daily. Now it’s important to stick together to support the team and start again, united.”
The reconciliation was evident during Juventus’ 4-0 Coppa Italia victory over Cagliari on December 17, where fans displayed supportive banners, and Vlahovic expressed relief at hearing their cheers once more.
Despite his pivotal role in the team, negotiations to extend Vlahovic’s contract, set to expire in 2026, have stalled.
Juventus is eager to secure his future for both sporting and financial reasons, but recent talks have not yielded progress.
Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli commented on the situation, stating there is no immediate rush to discuss a new contract, emphasizing the importance of unity among the club, team, and fans.
The uncertainty surrounding Vlahovic’s contract has attracted interest from top European clubs. Manchester United is reportedly monitoring the situation closely, considering a potential move if renewal talks remain unproductive.
