Juventus are on the verge of signing Canadian striker Jonathan David in a move that could have serious implications for Nigerian star Victor Osimhen.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italian giants are close to reaching an agreement with David, who is currently a free agent after leaving Lille at the end of last season.

This means Juventus won’t have to pay a transfer fee, only needing to finalize personal terms with the player.

Juventus were previously linked with multiple players this summer, including Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman, Wilfred Ndidi, and Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen was considered a possible replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who is expected to leave the club.

However, the club has now shifted focus to Jonathan David, a proven goalscorer who has impressed over the past three seasons. During his time at Lille, the 25-year-old scored 37 goals and provided 15 assists in 83 appearances.

After being eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup by Real Madrid, Juventus are determined to strengthen their squad through the transfer market. Signing David would be a major boost for their attacking options.

Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli following his outstanding loan spell at Galatasaray.

The Nigerian striker scored 37 goals and provided eight assists, helping the Turkish side win both the Super Lig and the Super Cup.

Juventus were one of the clubs interested in Osimhen. However, the potential signing of Jonathan David likely rules out any move for Osimhen to Turin this summer.

Bringing in another top striker alongside David would be both financially impractical and tactically unnecessary for Juventus.

Osimhen’s list of possible destinations continues to shrink. Chelsea are no longer an option after signing Liam Delap. If Juventus sign David, that door will close too.

This leaves clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Al Hilal, and possibly Galatasaray as remaining options. However, none of these clubs have yet made a serious approach to Napoli.

If no suitable offer arrives, Osimhen may be forced to remain at Napoli for another season or accept another loan move.
