Premier League side Everton have entered the race to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, joining West Ham United in the hunt for the Brazilian international.

After a frustrating debut season in Italy, the 27-year-old is looking to leave Juventus and return to the Premier League, where he previously impressed during his time at Aston Villa.

Injuries and personal issues limited Luiz’s impact in Turin, and he failed to register a single goal or assist throughout the campaign. He was mostly sidelined under coaches Thiago Motta and later Igor Tudor.

West Ham are currently seen as the frontrunners to sign Luiz. the Hammers have made a proposal to take the midfielder on loan for €10 million, with a €30 million option to buy.

However, Juventus reportedly prefer a deal that includes an obligation to buy, rather than an option.

The Bianconeri are determined to recoup most of the €50 million they paid for Luiz just a year ago. With a contract running until June 2029, the Serie A side is unlikely to settle for anything less than €40 million to avoid a financial loss.

While West Ham remain in the driving seat, Everton have made contact with Juventus to inquire about Luiz’s availability.

The Toffees are now evaluating the possibility of signing the midfielder as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

It’s unclear at this stage whether Everton are willing to meet Juventus’s financial demands or offer a more attractive package than West Ham.

Despite links to other English clubs including Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Manchester United, Douglas Luiz appears set for a return to the Premier League, with both West Ham and Everton showing serious interest.

As negotiations continue, Juventus will hope to strike a deal that benefits all parties — and helps the midfielder rediscover his form back in England.
