Every word from Federico Gatti on his future, Vlahović, Bremer, Kolo Muani, the Scudetto and more
Speaking from Juventus’ preseason training camp in Herzogenaurach, Federico Gatti made it clear — his decision to stay in Turin was one of the heart.
The central defender, who has just returned from a lengthy injury layoff, addressed transfer rumors, particularly Napoli’s strong interest in signing him to strengthen Antonio Conte’s backline.
Physical Condition
“I’m feeling better. Honestly, it’s been hard — with my physical build, being out for three and a half months wasn’t something I expected at all. Getting back has been complicated, but fortunately it’s been ten days, almost two weeks now, and I’m putting fuel in the legs. I’ll need games to build my stamina,” Gatti explained.
Napoli Interest
“No, I never questioned my future here. I was really pleased with the interest from a coach like Conte — one of the best managers in the world — and from sporting director Manna. I thank them both, because they did a lot to try to bring me to Napoli. But I preferred to follow my heart. This is a family, Turin is my home, I grew up here. Honestly, the choice was quite easy.”
Starting the New Season
“It’s strange because it almost feels like last season never ended. We’re working a lot now, and the coach has more time to work on certain things we couldn’t focus on in the final months. We’re training hard physically and tactically, and we’ll see the results on the pitch when the season starts.”
On Bremer’s Return
“With Bremer back, we’ll gain a lot — I will especially, since we’ve played together for three years. His injury last year was a blow because we had started so well, not conceding in the first seven or eight games. His return will be like a big signing, but he also needs to take it slow after being out for so long.”
Playing in a Back Three
“It’s all about habit. You just need to play and get used to it. I’m fully available for whatever the coach decides.”

On Dusan Vlahović
“Dusan is mature enough to make his own decisions, but I hope he stays — he’s a friend and a very important player.”
Aims for the Season
“This badge carries a huge prestige that demands winning every game. The Champions League is also crucial — those matches make you grow, and we need to go as far as possible.”
Squad Bonding
“The group builds itself match after match. Right now, we’re laying the foundations.”
On Jonathan David
“When he was at Lille, we played against him. He’s an excellent striker, but he’ll need to adapt to Serie A’s tactical and physical demands. He has everything to do well.”

On Kolo Muani
“He’d be very important if he returned — a very strong forward. But those are club decisions.”
On Comolli and Modesto
“They’re fitting in well — real football people. The sporting director is always on the pitch, speaking with players, staff, watching training.”
On Gennaro Gattuso Visiting Camp
“A pleasant surprise. I’d never met him before. He’s very passionate, full of heart. I like that — he can give us extra motivation. We can’t imagine an Italy that doesn’t go to the World Cup.”
On Douglas Luiz
“He spoke with the club and apologized. I have a lot of faith in Douglas — very strong and technical. He hasn’t shown his best yet, but he’s a quality player.”
