The CFO of Juventus, Francesco Calvo, spoke to DAZN ahead of Juventus’s match against Salernitana:

Does he tell us about his new role?

«The settlement was born with the request that the club made me to bring my skills gained in more than 20 years of sport, of attendance of the high-level sports world at the service of the sports area. So my role will be that of helping the decision-making process, supporting our sports directors, who are Federico Cherubini for the men’s side and Stefano Braghin for the women’s side, in making decisions, in the daily management and in the planning of the sports area.»

Juve is off to fight for all competitions. Have you set yourself a specific goal now?

«This year we are experiencing a particular year, on Thursday we had an excellent performance, we qualified for the semi-final of the Italian Cup, we will still be on the pitch in April and it is not something for all clubs, so we are very satisfied. For as far as the championship is concerned, we now live match by match, we discuss this with the coach every day. The most important match is always the next one, so for us it’s tonight’s match. Then next week we’ll think about next week’s match. But we live on. game by game, that’s what matters.»

Pogba has been out for many months. There have also been some rumors that he might leave. Will you start from him again in the future?

«The rumors… those are rumors, we’ve heard them too, but I categorically deny them. Paul was a very important signing for us and it’s a long-term signing. In terms of injury management, the coach in the last press conferences, the unexpected can always happen, this is the case. There has been a slowdown in his return to the field, but we see that he trains every day with great commitment and enthusiasm, so we are waiting for him on the field confident that he too can make a great contribution.»

What are your feelings after reading the reasons for the sentence?

«After each judicial passage the company expressed itself unequivocally, and even after the publication of the reasons we issued a press release in which we declared that we believe the sentence unjustified and illogical, this is our position and we will continue to defend ourselves in all the appropriate forums with the utmost respect for the institutions, but we will continue to defend ourselves.»

A comment on the video that has gone viral concerns one of the prosecutors in the Prisma investigation.

«Allow me to reflect on this issue: I believe some sentences taken out of their context can take on a different meaning from what they actually have in the correct context. This applies to Juventus and to all the people at Juventus who have been involved in the investigations, this also applies to the case you just mentioned. But there is one thing I would like to say: that Juventus always gives respect and respect is also what Juventus expects in all this judicial process.»
