Every word from Modesto as he outlines Juventus transfer plans, preseason progress and more
Juventus continue their preseason training camp in Herzogenaurach, Germany, at the headquarters of their technical sponsor.
François Modesto, newly appointed as the club’s technical director since July 15 following his experience at Monza, spoke to the media for the first time, offering insights on the team’s progress, the work under head coach Igor Tudor, and the club’s ambitions ahead of the new season.
Strong start to preseason
“Things are going very well. We started our camp in Turin, then moved here where we found perfect conditions,” said Modesto. “The team is working hard, both physically and tactically, and we’re happy with what the players are showing.”
His role and joining Juventus
Modesto defined his role as “a bridge between the club, the staff, and the players,” adding: “It’s an honor to receive a call from Juventus—everything happened quickly, but it was an amazing opportunity. For any director or player, it’s a point of pride.”
Transfer market: Kolo Muani and more
When asked about the pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani, Modesto was brief but clear:
“We’re still at the same point—we’re working on it, gathering all the necessary information. He knows exactly what he has to do. Confidence? We always have confidence.”

On the overall transfer outlook:
“First and foremost, we’re evaluating the players currently with us, and we’re very pleased with them. We’ll make decisions based on discussions with the coach and club management. We’ll see who might come in to help the team.”
Douglas Luiz: a second chance
Modesto addressed the situation surrounding Douglas Luiz, who had previously been involved in disciplinary matters:
“He was welcomed back properly. He knows he made a mistake, and we made that clear to him. We called him up again and helped him understand what Juventus represents. He’s truly sorry. But now it’s behind us.
What really surprised me is the group—from the outside, you just see Juventus playing, but inside, these are great guys who respect the club and want to achieve a lot. They’ve built a strong bond.”
The team spirit and Tudor’s leadership
“We’ve found a united group,” Modesto continued. “The players live and train well together. There’s great chemistry with the staff. Last season’s Champions League qualification is proof of their work ethic. Tudor? He’s very happy. He did a great job last year and wants to continue building. We’re aligned with him every day.”
On the Club World Cup:
“It was key for the team’s cohesion. They played big matches, gained confidence, and the short holidays they had afterward are part of elite football. The staff is managing recovery well, and we’re optimistic.”
New signings and internal collaboration
“The new arrivals were welcomed with open arms. The group is healthy and helped them settle quickly—they already feel part of us,” Modesto explained.
He also praised his working relationship with Giorgio Chiellini and Damien Comolli:
“We’re working together as a real team. Giorgio is the DNA of this club and a huge help. Comolli brings international experience. We constantly share ideas—it’s a strong partnership.”
Vlahovic remains committed
On Dusan Vlahovic, the subject of many market rumors, Modesto was direct:
“He’s training well and doing great. He’s a professional—and he’s a Juventus player.”

Bremer’s ambition for the Scudetto
Modesto echoed recent comments by defender Gleison Bremer, who emphasized the club’s winning mindset:
“Yes, Juventus must always go on the pitch to win—every match, every competition. That’s the mentality we need from the start.”
A special thank you to Galliani
Reflecting on his career path, Modesto expressed gratitude to Adriano Galliani, whom he worked with at Monza:
“He was the first person I called when I signed for Juventus. I thanked him deeply. I spent two and a half years with the Doctor—it was like a football university. He taught me so much. The most important lesson? Some things I’ll keep to myself—also those from President Berlusconi. I still speak with Galliani once or twice a week. Did he ask me about Vlahovic for Milan? (laughs) No, we don’t talk about transfers—just personal things.”
With preseason in full swing, Juventus—under the guidance of François Modesto and Igor Tudor—appear focused, united, and determined to bring silverware back to Turin in the upcoming season.
