Fabrizio Romano drops transfer hint on Juventus target Matt O’Riley
Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Matt O’Riley and the player is open to the move, as revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The club has officially requested information from Brighton & Hove Albion regarding the midfielder’s transfer cost and contract terms, although no formal offer has been submitted.
O’Riley has been offered to Juventus, and the situation remains in its early stages, with further developments expected in the coming days.
Matt O’Riley, a 24-year-old Denmark international born on November 21, 2000, joined Brighton in August 2024 from Celtic on a five-year contract.
The transfer fee was believed to exceed £25 million, setting a record for the Scottish club. Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler has praised O’Riley’s balance between offensive and defensive contributions, particularly his ability to find space and read the game.
At Celtic, O’Riley established himself as one of the top midfielders in Scotland. In the 2023–24 season, he scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in the Scottish Premiership.
O’Riley made 124 appearances for Celtic, scoring 27 goals and delivering 35 assists in all competitions.

His debut season at Brighton was significantly disrupted by injury. Just nine minutes into his first appearance in the EFL Cup, O’Riley suffered a serious ankle injury that required surgery, sidelining him for much of the campaign.
Despite this setback, he made 21 Premier League appearances in the 2024–25 season, scoring two goals and providing three assists. Including all competitions, he totaled approximately 26 appearances, contributing two goals and four assists.
Standing at 1.87 meters, O’Riley is recognized as a versatile box-to-box midfielder. His strengths include a wide passing range, intelligent movement, and a strong work rate on both ends of the pitch.
Although injuries and tactical changes limited his overall impact at Brighton, he remains a technically gifted player with significant upside.

Interest in O’Riley is not limited to Juventus. Roma and Napoli have all shown interest in the midfielder, while Premier League clubs Everton and Newcastle have also been linked with a move.
Brighton are expected to demand at least the £25 million they paid for him, and reports have suggested that Napoli may have already submitted an offer around €30 million. For now, Juventus are still gathering information and have not made a formal move.
O’Riley is under contract with Brighton until 2029, which puts the club in a strong negotiating position. Juventus appear to see him as a long-term fit within Igor Tudor’s midfield plans.
