Juventus is actively pursuing defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window, with a keen interest in Benfica’s 21-year-old center-back, António Silva.
Despite the player’s reported willingness to join the Bianconeri, negotiations have encountered significant obstacles. According to Fabrizio Romano, Benfica is still not open to selling Antonio Silva this January at this stage.
According to recent reports, Juventus proposed an initial loan deal with an option to buy, totaling approximately €30 million.
However, Benfica swiftly rejected this offer, expressing a preference for a permanent transfer to fully capitalize on Silva’s market value.

Agent Jorge Mendes, representing Silva, is scheduled to meet with Benfica’s management to advocate for the transfer. Mendes aims to leverage Silva’s interest in the move to facilitate an agreement between the clubs.
Despite these efforts, Benfica remains steadfast in its stance. Manager Roger Schmidt has publicly stated that the club has no intention of parting with Silva during this transfer window.
Juventus, constrained by financial limitations, is said to have turned their attention to Ronald Araujo as a primary target and is reportedly working to have reached agreements with Barcelona.
Ronald Araujo, whose contract is due to expire in June 2026, has been also reportedly open to a move to Juventus with both clubs working to complete details. Araujo is expected to be Juventus’s first signing of this month.
The Bianconeri will sign an additional centre-back as Danilo is expected to leave, with Napoli getting it done.
