Federico Chiesa spoke to Sky Italia after Liverpool’s dramatic debut Premier League win against Bournemouth, reflecting on his emotional and effective contribution.

Coming off the bench in the 82nd minute for Wirtz, he scored six minutes later with a deft volley that secured the Reds’ first three points of the season in a thrilling 4–2 victory.

Chiesa acknowledged how challenging his arrival at Anfield had been, revealing that his difficult start was partly due to not training with his former club, Juventus, which left him underprepared.

This situation stemmed from a breakdown in relations at Juventus, where he found himself frozen out of the first team. Reports indicate that he was excluded from training and effectively forced to train separately — a clear sign that he was no longer part of coach Thiago Motta’s plans.

Juventus appeared determined to sell him before his contract expired in 2025, with their asking price reportedly falling to around €15 million.

Ultimately, the club concluded that letting him go was the most viable option rather than risking losing him for free — a decision that paved his way to Liverpool.

He said the goal was a validation of the hard work he’s put in: “The goal pays back the work done. Last season I arrived in difficult condition… not training for a month, I don’t know why, but that decision penalized me during my journey at Anfield.”

He also paid a heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, the former of whom had recently passed away.

Addressing the moment, Chiesa noted that his first thought after scoring was for Jota and his family, believing their presence had helped him find the back of the net. Chiesa further emphasized his sense of belonging and contentment at Liverpool.

He stated that, although his path to regular game time has been difficult, he is happy at the club and ready to seize opportunities when they come—thanking the manager, who welcomed and encouraged him when he needed it most.
