Interviews
Federico Chiesa opens up why he left Juventus and hints at a possible return

Fresh off a Premier League title win with Liverpool, Federico Chiesa sat down for an exclusive interview, revealing untold details about his Juventus departure, his respect for former coach Massimiliano Allegri, and his current outlook on football and life.
No Regrets About Leaving
When asked if he regrets leaving Juventus, Chiesa was clear:
“Regret leaving Juve? No, why should I?”
Juventus Exit: No Renewal Offered
Chiesa disclosed that despite initial talks after the European Championship, Juventus never followed up with a contract extension:
“I was never offered a renewal… no one ever got back to me.”
Thiago Motta’s Decision
The turning point came when new coach Thiago Motta told Chiesa he wasn’t part of the club’s plans:
“When I returned from vacation after my wedding, I spoke to Thiago. He told me straight out: ‘You’re not part of the project, find yourself a team.’”
Still, Chiesa remains respectful:
“I feel great affection for Juve and the fans.”
Training Alone, Staying Professional
On his exclusion from the squad:
“It wasn’t humiliating… I trained with others in the same situation. They were clear from the start.”
Even without playing in friendlies, Chiesa remained focused and professional.
Allegri: A Mentor and a Winner
Chiesa had only kind words for Massimiliano Allegri: “He gave me a lot… He helped me grow personally and tactically.”
Allegri even reached out before Chiesa’s move to Liverpool: “He called me in September to wish me good luck. That meant a lot.”
A Future Return to Juventus?
Chiesa didn’t close the door completely:
“Return to Juventus? Never say never.”
On Juve’s Struggles and the New Era
He admitted disappointment over the club’s performance last season:
“Fourth place is the bare minimum for Juve.”
He praised Giorgio Chiellini’s move into management, calling him “a guarantee” for the club.
Thoughts on Vlahovic, Yildiz, and Transfers
On Dusan Vlahovic:
“He can succeed in the Premier League he just needs the right choice.”
On Kenan Yildiz wearing the legendary No. 10 shirt:
“It fits him well, but it’s a big responsibility. He has the potential.”
On Tonali joining Juve:
“A great move. He’s proving himself at Newcastle.”
On Douglas Luiz:
“Settling in takes time. He’s strong, a good buy.”
Conte and Allegri: The Winning Mentality
To wrap up, Chiesa praised coaches like Antonio Conte and Allegri:
“Whoever takes Conte or Allegri has a better chance of winning. They’re winners like Ancelotti.”
