Former Chelsea captain offered to Juventus
Juventus have been offered the chance to sign experienced defender Cesar Azpilicueta, who is now a free agent.
The Spanish veteran started his career at Osasuna, then moved to Marseille, where he impressed enough to earn a transfer to Chelsea in 2012.
During his 11 years at Chelsea, he became a club legend, winning many trophies before joining Atletico Madrid in 2023 on a free transfer.
Now, with his contract at Atletico ending, the 35-year-old is looking for his next club.
According to Italian journalist Orazio Accomando, Azpilicueta has been offered to Juventus through agents. However, there are no serious talks yet.
Juventus are expected to sign a new defender this summer, but their top target is still unknown. Coach Igor Tudor is reportedly interested in Leonardo Balerdi, a player he coached at Marseille. Other names like Nayef Aguerd and Ronald Araujo have also been linked.
It is unclear if Juventus will seriously consider Azpilicueta.
Azpilicueta is known for his versatility. He can play as a right-back, center-back, or in a back-three formation, which fits Juventus’ style.
However, his age (35) and limited playing time at Atletico—only 20 appearances last season—raise questions about whether he is the best option. Some fans believe Juventus should focus on signing younger defenders with more energy and hunger.
For now, Juventus will take time to decide whether to add the former Chelsea captain to their squad.
