Former Italian defender warns Juventus could face UEFA punishment over €400m losses
Former Italian defender and football pundit Paolo Ziliani has raised concerns about Juventus’ finances, warning that the club could face sanctions from UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
Ziliani said on social media that Juventus have lost around €400 million over the last three years, while UEFA rules allow a maximum loss of €60 million in the same period.
“How can Juventus hope to pass UEFA’s Financial Fair Play review next June?” Ziliani asked. “This is a clear violation of the rules, and yet it seems no one in the media is holding them accountable.”

UEFA can punish clubs in different ways depending on how serious the rules breach is. In minor cases, clubs may have to pay fines or other money penalties, like what happened to Roma this summer.
For more serious breaches, UEFA could withhold revenue from competitions. In the most severe cases, clubs could face points deductions, smaller squad sizes, or even be banned from current and future competitions.
Ziliani also criticized Juventus for not showing how they plan to fix their finances in time to meet UEFA’s deadlines, calling the situation “blatant and undeniable.”
The former defender’s warning puts more pressure on Juventus as they face scrutiny over their financial management and the possible consequences of breaking European football rules.
