Del Piero issues a blunt message for Thiago Motta

The Allianz Stadium was once again graced by the presence of Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero as he watched his former club battle to a 2-2 draw against Bologna in Serie A.

Del Piero, ever the fan favorite, was greeted with loud cheers from the Juventus supporters. Post-match, he spoke to CBS Sports Golazo, providing a critical assessment of the game.

Juventus found themselves in a precarious position early on, trailing 2-0 at their home ground, which is somewhat uncharacteristic for a team known for its defensive solidity.

However, a spirited comeback in the latter stages of the game salvaged a point for the Bianconeri, with a last-minute goal from Sam Mbangula highlighting their resilience but also exposing their vulnerabilities.

Del Piero commented, “Juventus managed a significant comeback, even though it came with a goal in the last minute. They were losing 2-0 at home.”

His observation points to a broader issue within the team’s current form, where comebacks seem necessary rather than the team securing victories outright from the start.

The match was further marred by another injury, this time to Andrea Cambiaso, who had to leave the field early.

Del Piero noted, “There was another injury today, a bad one because Cambiaso is a great player for Juve.”

This injury adds to Juventus’ growing list of absences, which Del Piero highlighted as a significant concern, “They’re in trouble; there are many absences.”

Del Piero’s analysis also touched on the psychological aspect, suggesting that the team’s aura of invincibility has waned: “They’re in trouble because teams are feeling comfortable playing against them, believing they can win.”

This sentiment was reflected in Bologna’s performance, where they initially took a commanding lead and managed to secure a point, which Del Piero acknowledged as “a good outcome for Bologna.”

The Juve icon concluded his remarks with a pointed critique of the team’s current standing, “The issue is that other teams aren’t afraid, and Thiago Motta needs to work on that.”

His words underscore the urgency for Juventus to regain their intimidating presence on the pitch, both in Serie A and in upcoming European fixtures.
