Galatasaray submit offer for Juventus star

Galatasaray have reportedly made a move for Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, as the Turkish giants look to strengthen their midfield during the January transfer window.

The Istanbul-based club has identified the 27-year-old Dutchman as an ideal profile to add versatility and experience to their squad.

Galatasaray have been active in the Italian market this winter but were unable to reach an agreement with Inter for Davide Frattesi, another player also monitored by Juventus. With fierce rivals Fenerbahçe securing Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, Galatasaray are eager to respond quickly by turning their attention to Koopmeiners.

The report claims that Galatasaray have submitted an offer consisting of a loan deal with an option to buy, set at around €30 million at the end of the season.

However, Juventus are reportedly unimpressed by the proposal. The Bianconeri are reluctant to accept a deal that would result in a significant capital loss, having paid close to €60 million to sign Koopmeiners less than 18 months ago.

As things stand, it remains unclear whether Galatasaray are prepared to improve their offer, or whether Koopmeiners himself would be open to a move to Turkey.

Despite being a regular starter since joining Juventus in August 2024, Koopmeiners’ performances have divided opinion among fans and pundits. Many consider his transfer one of the club’s most disappointing big-money signings of the past decade, particularly given the fee involved.

The Dutch international has struggled to replicate the form he showed during his impressive three-year spell at Atalanta, where he established himself as one of Serie A’s standout midfielders.

Under head coach Luciano Spalletti, Koopmeiners has been deployed in several roles — including at left centre-back — but has yet to truly excel in any position.

As a result, a potential departure may not be strongly opposed by sections of the Juventus fanbase, provided the club can secure a reasonable fee.
