Thiago Motta came to Juventus before the season started to change how the team plays. Everyone expected him to bring a new, more exciting way of playing compared to Max Allegri’s slow and defensive style.
Allegri was fired for a second time last season even though they won the Coppa Italia against Atalanta. His firing was because he got very mad at a referee and started taking off his clothes during a match.
When Motta arrived, he wanted to change the team to fit his way of playing, so they bought seven new players and sold many others to make room. Federico Gatti, a player from Allegri’s time, stayed with the team.
Last season, there were talks about Gatti moving to the Premier League, and many fans thought he should be sold because he made too many risky moves up the field, leaving the defense weak.
But now, with Motta as coach, Gatti has changed. He still moves forward, but he goes back faster now, making him very important for Juventus. He’s played in 13 out of 15 Serie A games this season, starting in 12.
Because he’s been playing better, Juventus is giving him a big new contract. This contract will keep him with the team until 2030, when he will be 32 years old, if he stays with Juventus.
With Motta’s new style, players like Gatti have shown they can improve and play a big part in the team. It’s exciting to see how Juventus will do with this new way of playing.
