Juventus coach Igor Tudor met with the press today to discuss the upcoming match against Genoa and other key topics, including the team’s form and the final days of the transfer window.

On the Champions League Draw

Tudor began by sharing his thoughts on the recent Champions League draw.

“It could have been worse, or it could have been better,” he said. “They are all difficult matches, but the draw was a beautiful thing. When the boys hear the music, everything changes. We earned the Champions League with great sacrifice and sweat, and for this, I told them to enjoy the draw.”

On the Genoa Match and the Squad

The coach expressed satisfaction with the team’s positive start to the season.

“The feelings are good; the team was on their game, concentrated,” he commented on the opening day victory. He also addressed the challenge of facing Genoa, stating, “It’s a tough team and very organized. We have to do very well to get points in that stadium.”

When asked who would replace the suspended Andrea Cambiaso, Tudor was succinct: “Everyone who plays on the flanks can play.”

On the Transfer Market

Tudor responded to questions about the club’s transfer activity and a past comment he made about needing three new players.

“I said that thing about three new players only once at the end of March, and you have repeated it ever since, you bring it up every time because it’s interesting,” he said. “I have talked about the market, I have explained everything I need to say. The market is complicated, we’ve all said it.

“There are still two days left, and director Comolli is taking care of it and trying to do the best that can be done. I am happy with the team, I see the boys doing well. The continuity from last year is an added value that is underestimated. Then there’s the return of Bremer, and Cabal is coming back, who can give us a hand. We’ll see what happens in these two days.”

On Player Roles

Tudor confirmed the importance of midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

“He is a starter and will be a starter, an important player,” Tudor stated. “We have talked a lot, there is nothing more to add. He is on the right path.”

The coach also spoke about the possibility of using two strikers.

“We can play 3-5-2 with two attackers, now we’ll see,” he said. “The strong players must play, and if you have strong players, you have to adapt a little, and it’s okay to have two systems.” However, he was clear that Jonathan David would not be used in a deeper, trequartista role, stating, “He as a trequartista? It’s difficult for him to play back there.”

On Nico Gonzalez

Finally, Tudor addressed the speculation surrounding Nico Gonzalez’s future at the club.

“Nico Gonzalez is a player that I like and have always liked. From my side, there has never been any rejection, I want to say that,” Tudor asserted. “He is a player with great value, quality, an Argentinian international.

“The idea, to be precise, was to try him on the wing at the start of the season, but then he had some physical issues and couldn’t play, but that was the idea. The great thing about him is that he can play both out wide and up front, so I’m happy to have him in the squad.”
