In just a few hours, Juventus will face PSV at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. One of the players returning to step on the pitch of the Bianconeri’s home is Ivan Perisic.
Many will remember him for his time at Inter Milan, but an interesting transfer rumor suggests that the Croatian was once very close to joining the Old Lady before ultimately choosing Tottenham.
It was the summer of 2022, and Perisic had just completed his second spell at Inter following a brief loan stint at Bayern Munich. At that time, Juventus considered signing the then 33-year-old on a free transfer. However, Perisic opted for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham instead.
Throughout his career, Perisic has faced Juventus 16 times. Ironically, he signed with PSV on September 18—just one day after the match against the Bianconeri. Across those 16 encounters, he has scored four goals.
Perisic and Juventus have never been friends, making the idea of his transfer to Turin quite surprising. Back in March 2016, the Croatian had a heated altercation with Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado, even grabbing the Colombian by the throat during a tense moment on the field.
The rivalry continued over the years, culminating in a penalty decision that favored Juventus. Never friends, but Perisic is back at the Allianz Stadium once again.
