Juventus have drawn 0-0 against AC Milan at the San Siro on Sunday evening. It was a boring match, with the Bianconeri not even having a single shot on target. With a win Juventus would have got into the top 4, but now they are 1 point behind in the standings. Max Statman gives you a quick breakdown and player ratings.

There was a little suprise when the line-ups came out: Giorgio Chiellini was starting, because Matthijs de Ligt suffered from gastroenteritis and started on the bench.

The match started out pretty cagey, with lots of fouls. As a result of that, Manuel Locatelli received a yellow card and will be suspended for Juve’s next match against Hellas Verona. Juventus created some small chances, with Cuadrado cutting inside and trying to find the right bottom corner, but his attempt went just wide.

Boring first half

The biggest danger of the first half came from Milan. A quick combination between Ibrahimovic (who went off after 30 minutes), Messias and Leao resultated in a shot from the Portugese winger on the edge of the box, but Szczesny denied him. The Bianconeri struggled to create clear chances. Paulo Dybala tried to curl it in at the far post, but his shot missed the goal by some margin, and that was about it from Juve’s side in the first half. Milan had a similar opportunity, with Calabria shooting from far, but his shot missed the goal too. The Rossoneri grew stronger towards half-time, but were unable cause Juve real trouble.

The second half wasn’t too different from the first, as there were few notable chances. Morata put his head to a cross by De Sciglio, but it went wide. Then it was Milan’s turn again. Leao cut inside and went for the shot, but it went straight at Szczesny.

Messias wanted to clear the ball out of Milan’s box a little later, but hit Morata instead. Referee Di Bello had a clear view, but decided not to give a penalty. Theo Hernandez crossed the whole field with ball and went looking for the right bottom corner, but Szczesny stopped it with a diving save. Giroud’s header a couple minutes later was an easy catch for the Polish goalkeeper.

Juventus almost didn’t create any danger, the Bianconeri had zero shots on target all game, but were solid at the back and didn’t give too many chances away. This draw leaves Juve with 4 of a potential 18 points against the top 4 in Serie A.
