Match Report

Juventus 0 – 4 Atalanta: Match report and player ratings.

Juventus took on Atalanta at home in a key game in the quote ” title race” and Thiago Motta got ruined and outplayed by Gaperini. He tried to revolutionize football because he had a whole week to train the players.

But every move he made left the defence extremely open because he decided to play Lookman and Retegui one on one, instead of helping his defence. So even though we had 63 percent possession we conceded four goals all from quick attacks from Atalanta.

Then when Juventus where in possession, Kolo Muani was isolated and Motta still decided to wait until the 75th minute to bring him on. Even though at two-nil down in the 54th minute he bought on two defenders.

The players where poor, but Thiago Motta completely mismanaged the game, now Juventus will have to rely on other teams and luck to secure top four. Motta has ten more games and that’s it.

Player Ratings –

Michele Di Gregorio – 7: If the goalkeeper apart of the midfield in Motta so called “2-7-2”, then Di Gregorio was the best midfielder on the pitch and best player in general, could have been a lot worse.

Andrea Cambiaso – 6: Cambiaso moved up the pitch well but this left the defence open too much because Weah was told to sit higher to match Zappacosta as well. This meant Locatelli and Thuram had to go back.

Llyod Kelly & Federico Gatti – 4: Did they talk to each other at all during this game, they had no handle on the game, no one knew where the other one was. They tried to play induvial games instead of as a team.

Tim Weah – 4.5: Weah was way to high up the pitch all the game and then struggled to get back, this created a more open defence once again and then Juventus had no clue on how to organise themselves.

Manuel Locatelli & Khepren Thuram – 4: Both of these two where either where too high on the pitch to help the defence or too low to help the attack, they basically had no effect on the game and made it so easier for an Atalanta counter.

Weston Mckennie – 4.5: Mckennie doesn’t work great as a 10 but right now he is the best we have for now. A 10 must be a crucial signing in January, I’m honestly not sure where Mckennie works best.

Kenan Yildiz & Nico Gonzalez – 3.5: There games where basically the same, both took touches that where too heavy. Both where scared to take the game on and this led to them being outshined by Cambiaso and Weah.

Randal Kolo Muani – 5: His build up was very good today once again but he needs to get back to scoring goals and fast. He gets more leeway for his on ball ability but should be kept to the same standard as Vlahovic.
