Juventus 1-1 Salernitana: Match report and player ratings
Juventus were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by already-relegated Salernitana at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday. The result extends their winless run in Serie A to five games and puts a dent in their hopes of finishing third in the league.
Juventus will now turn their attention to the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta on Wednesday. They will be hoping to bounce back from this disappointing result and end the season on a high note.
Juventus player ratings against Salernitana
Goalkeeper (6)
- Szczesny: The only one to save himself. He keeps Juventus afloat with a decisive save at the end of the first half, even though he is not impeccable on Pierozzi’s goal.
Defenders (5-5.5)
- Gatti (5): Many, too many mistakes. Especially in the first half, a performance decidedly not up to par.
- Bremer (5.5): In the defensive department one of the few at least to try, but today is a difficult day for everyone, even for Gleison.
- Rugani (5.5): Similar speech to his teammate Bremer. A clean performance, but nothing more.
- Cambiaso (6): In the first half he is the only one to try, literally. He also chips the outside post with a nice shot from distance.
Midfielders (4.5-5.5)
- McKennie (4.5): One of the worst. Misplaced crosses, confused ideas. He is replaced at half-time.
- Locatelli (4.5): Confused, misplaced passes and even into the void. Nervous.
- Rabiot (5.5): He had been the worst, until the first minute of stoppage time, when the decisive paw is his, a point that almost seems like a victory.
- Kostic (4): Where did the best assist man from Eintracht Frankfurt go? This Kostic seems to be his doppelganger. Misplaced crosses, does not have an impact.
Forwards (5.5-4)
- Vlahovic (5.5): At least he tries. In the beginning he has a thrill with which he chips the crossbar and engages the Salernitana goalkeeper in a super save. He asks for the help of the public, then fades away.
- Kean (4): On the pitch yes, but definitely not in the game. He is replaced at half-time, but how many mistakes.
Substitutes (4.5-6)
- Miretti (6): Entered in place of McKennie, runs a lot and gives the jolt that was needed, even if Juventus does not win.
- Iling Jr. (4.5): Does not have an impact, but rather, is not convincing at all. He starts as a left-back, closes high on the right, but is certainly not the player we were used to seeing.
- Chiesa (5.5): With a few of his gallops he puts the Salernitana defense in difficulty, but it is not enough, Juventus still does not score.
- Milik (5.5): Some dangerous insertions, but also not very incisive.
- Yildiz (S.V.)
Coach (4)
- Allegri: Juventus goes down with Salernitana, already relegated and does not know how to react. The equalizer comes in extremis with Rabiot’s paw but it is certainly not the best way to show up for the Coppa Italia final. The ideas still seem really few.
