Juventus took on Torino in the Derby Della Mole away, after previously beating the team in Torino 2-1, off goals from Weah and Yildiz. Today the goal came from a great chance from Kenan Yildiz from outside the box. This goal makes him the first player to score in both derbies in one season since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018/19.
Other than that, this team did look painfully average once again. Mbangula and Gonzalez combined for a second goal but, Gonzalez made his run too early and was offside. Other than that Juventus didn’t have any other big chances.
Not many players managed to stand out, but Douglas Luiz looked good in the six role. He has been criticized for previous games when he played a more 8 role, but now that looked natural for him. Mbangula and Yildiz were some of our best players from the wings.
Player Ratings
Michele Di Gregorio – 6.5: Made some good saves like the chance such as the 1 on 1 which was called offside. I think he could have given more on the goal, but I don’t know if he could have saved it but.
Nico Savona – 7: Savona has stepped up from next gen and preformed straight away. Another good game from him, Torino played with two strikers, so he didn’t have a direct man but still knew his role.
Pierre Kalulu – 6: Kalulu has clearly had a drop off during this season, likely because of the heavy minutes. Once we bring in a centre back and he can rest I’m hopeful he can regain that form, he just needs better positioning at times.
Federico Gatti – 6.5: Gatti wasn’t really good, but he was better than Pierre Kalulu. He did a bit more on the ball and has had better defensive positioning right now. Still feel he is missing some dimension in his game but is better than last season.
Weston Mckennie – 7: I was close to giving Mckennie a 7.5 and probably could have got it if he played the full 90. He was very good in reading the game today as he gets more comfortable in that left back position. Mckennie was good at tracking back fast when he caught himself up the pitch.
Douglas Luiz – 7.5: A lot has been said around the signing of Luiz, but I think his game today was very good even if it was “bland”. He played well in the deeper role even if he had less of the spark of creativity.
Kheperen Thuram – 6.5: I think Thuram slightly misunderstood what he had to do today without Manuel Locatelli. He didn’t get forward as much as he would like but it could also be because off a lack of chemistry with Douglas Luiz.
Teun Koopmeiners – 6: A lot of people are once again attacking Koopmeiners for a quote “Poor game” but I don’t think he was that bad. He was nothing special, but he wasn’t really bad I just don’t think the role suits him.
Samuel Mbangula – 7.5: Mbangula and Savona both showed the strength of New Gen today. Mbangula was a slightly less skilful than the SuperCup against Milan, but he did look better at reading the game with Weston Mckennie. He would also push to the right wing too help Yildiz at times as well.
Kenan Yildiz – 8: Yildiz was the best Juventus player today with his brilliant flair once again on show. He scored an absolute worldie with his long-range goal which sailed into the bottom corner. Yildiz had most of our attacking chances and was worldclass.
Nico Gonzalez – 5.5: I thought he was very poor but that was because he was playing out of position. His positioning was wrong, he was rarely on the ball, and it is clear that he is more of a 10 or a winger.
