Juventus 2-0 Hellas Verona: Match report and player ratings

Juventus secured their fifth consecutive Serie A victory on Monday night with a convincing 2-0 win over Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium. The result lifted the Bianconeri back into the top four, closing the gap to league leaders Inter Milan to just six points.

Despite the positive result, the atmosphere in Turin was anything but welcoming at kickoff. Following last week’s shock Coppa Italia elimination to Empoli, Juventus players were met with whistles and boos from the home crowd.

The week leading up to the match was turbulent, with head coach Thiago Motta facing scrutiny from the media and Curva Sud ultras staging protests during the team’s ritiro on Sunday.

On the pitch, however, Juventus responded with a commanding display. They dominated possession and created numerous scoring chances in the first half but struggled to find the breakthrough. Verona nearly punished them for their wastefulness when Tomas Suslov fired a brilliant strike past Michele Di Gregorio, only for the goal to be ruled out.

The Old Lady maintained their dominance after the break. Their persistence paid off when Khephren Thuram found the net following an excellent assist from Andrea Cambiaso. Juventus remained in control, and Teun Koopmeiners sealed the victory in the 90th minute with his first Serie A goal since December.

Next up, Juventus face a crucial showdown against Atalanta on Sunday. A win would see them draw level on points with the Bergamo club, further strengthening their push for a top-four finish and a potential Scudetto push.
