Juventus have reached an agreement to sign Loïs Openda from RB Leipzig in the final hours of the transfer window, after failing to strike a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the return of Randal Kolo Muani.

The Bianconeri had long targeted Kolo Muani, who spent six months on loan in Turin last season and was eager to return.

However, negotiations with PSG stalled as the French champions demanded around €70 million, while Juventus only offered a loan with an option to buy for no more than €60 million.

With the forward earning close to €8 million per season, the deal proved too costly for Juventus, especially given the presence of Dusan Vlahovic in the squad.

Attention then turned to Openda, who quickly became the priority. According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus reached agreements to sign him from Leipzig for a loan with an obligation to buy worth slightly over €40 million.

The German side opened the door to a sale as they prepare to complete the signing of Harder from Sporting.

For Juventus, the economics were decisive. At 25, Openda is younger than Kolo Muani, commands a lower fee, and would earn around €4 million per year, half the salary of the French striker.

This makes him a far more sustainable option under UEFA’s financial fair play regulations.

Openda is now expected in Turin to undergo medical tests and finalize the move, giving Igor Tudor another attacking weapon alongside Jonathan Davidn and Vlahovic as Juventus look to strengthen their title push.
