In what could become one of the most surprising transfer moves of the summer, Juventus and Inter Milan are reportedly considering a direct player swap involving Nico Gonzalez and Davide Frattesi.
The two Serie A giants despite their fierce rivalry and limited transfer dealings in the past are exploring a deal that could satisfy both clubs and players.
Nico Gonzalez, the Argentine attacker, has endured a disappointing spell in Turin and has been linked with a move away from Juventus, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli showing strong interest.
Inter Milan are monitoring the 27-year-old as a potential alternative to Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
Inter coach Cristian Chivu is said to value Gonzalez’s flexibility in attack, with the former Fiorentina man capable of operating as a wingback, second striker, or attacking midfielder in the Nerazzurri’s dynamic 3-5-2 setup.
Meanwhile, Juventus have long admired Davide Frattesi, a player they tracked during his time at Sassuolo.
The 25-year-old Italian midfielder, who joined Inter in 2023, has struggled for consistent playing time under former manager Simone Inzaghi and now finds himself at a crossroads under Chivu’s new regime.
Reports suggest that Frattesi is open to a move in pursuit of regular minutes, and Juventus view him as a valuable addition to reinforce their midfield.
Both players are estimated to be worth around €30 million, which opens the door for a straightforward swap deal without any additional cash involved.
However, as with any potential exchange, negotiations could prove complex, especially given the stature of the two clubs and the players’ personal preferences.
Still, if completed, this would mark a rare direct transaction between Juventus and Inter Milan and one that could reshape both squads heading into the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.
While talks are still in the early stages and no formal offers have been made public, the possibility of a Gonzalez Frattesi swap highlights the shifting dynamics in Italian football, where even the biggest rivalries may not prevent smart business when the opportunity is right.
