When football shut down at the start of the decade due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all clubs were affected, including Juventus. The financial toll it took on the club still has ripple effects on today’s team.
At the beginning of the season, Thiago Motta was brought in to become the new head coach of the side after Allegri’s firing. Motta wanted to take part in a revolution at the club by signing new players. The poor financial situation led to a reliance on loan-to-buy deals.
One of the players who came in on loan was Portuguese right winger Francisco Conceição. Thiago Motta used him a lot, with Conceição becoming a fan favourite. However, under new coach Igor Tudor and his 3-4-2-1 formation, his role has been lost.
Two other loanees were brought in during January to help provide squad depth and ensure injuries didn’t ruin the season. These two players were Randal Kolo Muani and Renato Veiga, who came in to add depth and potentially become starters.
Now, both players are set to be sent back to their parent clubs, according to Mirko Nicolino. This has left some fans shocked. Randal Kolo Muani started his Juventus career in red-hot form with five goals in three games.
However, he hasn’t scored since, and in Igor Tudor’s two games, he has only played 22 minutes. So, it could make more sense that if he doesn’t fit into Tudor’s system, he will be gone. But if this is the reason, it could mean Tudor is staying as coach for next season.
However, this is contradicted by the decision to send Renato Veiga back to Chelsea. He has played the full 90 minutes in both games that Tudor has coached so far. This could mean that it’s a decision being made by Giuntoli and the board.
