Juventus completes first summer signing

Juventus have completed the signing of Canadian striker Jonathan David. The forward arrives in Turin on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Lille.

After their elimination from the Club World Cup, Juventus are now fully focused on strengthening the squad for the upcoming Serie A season, which will kick off on Sunday, August 24 against Parma.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Bianconeri have finalized a deal to bring the Canadian striker to Turin. David, born in 2000, left Lille on June 30 after his contract with the French club expired. He now becomes Juventus’ first signing of the summer.

Juventus have reached a total agreement with David’s representatives. The Canadian striker has given his approval, and the next steps will involve traveling to Turin for medical examinations and officially signing the contract that will tie him to the Bianconeri.

Although David joins as a free agent, Juventus will still face costs tied to signing bonuses and agent fees, making the overall operation a significant financial commitment.

The Canadian striker is expected to earn a salary of €6 million per season plus bonuses. Juventus also reached an agreement with his entourage regarding signing bonuses and commissions tied to the transfer.

Jonathan David joined Lille in the summer of 2020 and went on to play 232 matches, scoring 109 goals and providing 30 assists. During his time in France, he won one Ligue 1 title and a French Super Cup.

The Canadian forward is now ready to begin a new chapter in Serie A with Juventus, where he is expected to play a key role in the club’s attacking plans for the future.
