Juventus is reportedly eyeing Benfica defender Antonio Silva as a priority target for the January transfer window, with a transfer formula resembling the one used for Carlos Alcaraz earlier this year. Silva’s limited playing time at Benfica has opened the door for a potential mid-season move to Turin.
According to the Ilbianconero, considering an expensive loan deal for Silva, offering Benfica approximately €5 million upfront. The arrangement would include an option to buy set at €30 million, allowing Juventus to evaluate the player’s performance over the next six months.
This timeframe would cover crucial competitions, including Serie A, the Coppa Italia, the Champions League, and potentially the FIFA Club World Cup, should an agreement extend into July.
This approach mirrors the deal Juventus struck for Carlos Alcaraz last January, which provided the club with flexibility in assessing the player’s fit within the squad before committing to a long-term investment.
Silva, 21, is highly regarded for his defensive capabilities and potential, making him a valuable asset for Juventus’ injury-hit backline. The club is also leveraging its positive relationship with agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate the transfer.
While Juventus faces competition for the Portuguese defender, the proposed deal offers a practical solution to bolster their squad without immediate financial strain.
